Love that changes your life
When I got my first bulldog, Tank, I had no idea what that was going to do to my life and to me. He changed me. For the better. I’d had dogs my whole life. My parents raised poodles because my father had severe allergies from childhood and couldn’t be around pets that shed hair so the poodle was the breed of choice since they had to have haircuts. That was okay with me as long as I got a dog. I’ve been drawn to dogs my entire life from the time I was a little girl. I used to pet strays and get bit all the time since stray dogs don’t trust anyone even well meaning little girls. I just wanted to love them and like people some of them don’t know the difference between someone wanting to love them and someone wanting to hurt them.
Tank changed my whole world. He started me on a path that not only refined my personality but gave me my purpose and career. I had to spread the love. Find a way to provide these beautiful dogs to as many people as I could. Tankrtots was born. Tank’s tots. A funny take on tatertots. Those delicious little square fries everyone loves. Well these were his babies because we bred him with our Harley and got some amazing puppies to provide. You can only safely breed an English Bulldog mama a couple of times so we had Harley spayed after three litters and that was it for us until we added Mugsy to the family. Mugsy was our beautiful brindle girl who had the most amazing soft puppies. She never lost that puppy softness. We got her from a breeder in Westminster Colorado and she came to us from Budapest Hungary same as Harley did. Tank was from Kiev Ukraine. This was many years ago when dogs could be flown from overseas as young babies. Now days they have to be rabies vaccinated before flying so they are at least 4 months old before they can leave Europe.
Tank, Harley and Mugsy slept in bed with us. They went everywhere with us. We were this fuzzy family that spent lots of time together. I’ve owned a lot of dog breeds in my lifetime. Since I was little and had poodles I’ve always loved dogs, all dogs. There was something so different about bulldogs. Something human. I realized after breeding a few litters of my own that the first touch a bulldog puppy gets is from human hands. they hear our voices, feel our love and depend completely on our care to survive. It takes many human hands to raise a litter of these babies. Just like Tarzan believed he was an ape after being raised by them, bulldogs believe they are human. I know people have a lot of theories on this but that’s my take on it. I couldn’t love my bulldog puppies more if they were human. I look for that feeling and commitment in everyone who buys a puppy from me. I look for that special love for that baby dog that will absolutely change their life.
